The painting depicted a group of pixies who had stolen a bag of marbles from the porch of a house and spilled them out in the owner's moonlit garden.

"Art is when you hear a knocking from your soul - and you answer." ~Star Richés

When I was very young, I remember checking a book out of the library about fairies. I've forgotten the title, but I'll never forget an illustration that was among the pages. It was so mesmerizing, I couldn't put it down - literally!
The quality of the light and how it was represented by the artist, the nodding flowers of the garden, and the otherwordly nature of the fairies was so beautifully rendered it was positively spellbinding. It captivated me so much that it really was the beginning of a life long love affair with art and the World of Fairy.
A chance encounter enabled me to combine design work and "play" when a local psychologist asked me to design and make a soft doll that he could use in therapy with his clients. I loved the challenge and there were soon more designs. The process really heightened my awareness of the creative potential of fabric and sparked the irresistable desire to bring my two dimensional renderings to life. An obsession was born and I've been designing, making, and selling original cloth dolls ever since. All this eventually led to starting Faewyck Studios, through which a line of patterns and class offerings have been developed for doll makers everywhere.
After graduating from college with a BA in art and design, I worked as a graphic artist in the printing industry and also at an art gallery doing custom matting and framing. I illustrated a few calenders ( with fairies of course! ), and  also painted and sold watercolors and had several series of limited edition prints published. My "play" time was spent sewing, sewing, sewing. I loved making things with fabric and it was another creative outlet for me - something I've been doing for over thirty years.
